QR code scanning

QR code scanning is the primary interaction in the Verdan mobile app. Here's how to use it effectively.

Opening the Scanner

• Open the Verdan app
• Tap the Scan button (center of bottom navigation)
• Point your camera at the QR code
• Hold steady — the scan happens automatically

Supported QR Types

The app recognizes several Verdan QR code types:

Gate Sign-In

• Posted at site entrances
• Signs you in or out of the project
• Shows confirmation with project name

Worker Badge

• On personal ID badges
• Foremen scan to sign in their crew
• Confirms worker identity

Toolbox Talk

• Displayed during Toolbox Talks
• Records your attendance
• Shows the talk topic

Permit Acknowledgment

• Attached to active permits
• Records your acknowledgment
• Shows permit details and conditions

Camera Permissions

The app needs camera access to scan:

iOS

• Go to Settings > Verdan
• Enable Camera toggle
• Return to the app

Android

• Go to Settings > Apps > Verdan
• Tap Permissions
• Enable Camera
• Return to the app

Scanning Tips

• Hold the phone 6-12 inches from the code
• Ensure the code fills most of the screen
• Good lighting helps — avoid direct glare
• Clean smudges off the camera lens
• Hold steady for 1-2 seconds

Troubleshooting

Code won't scan

• Check camera permissions
• Clean the camera lens
• Ensure the QR code isn't damaged
• Try different angles and distances
• Restart the app

Wrong action after scan

• Verify you scanned the correct code
• Check that the code matches your project
• Contact your superintendent if issues persist

"Invalid code" error

• The code may be deactivated
• It may belong to a different organization
• It may be a non-Verdan QR code
