Offline mode

Verdan's mobile app works even without internet connectivity — essential for construction sites with poor signal.

How It Works

The app maintains a local database that:

• Stores your recent project data
• Queues actions taken while offline
• Syncs automatically when connectivity returns
• Resolves conflicts intelligently

What Works Offline

Full Functionality

• QR code scanning and sign-ins
• Creating safety observations
• Completing safety checks
• Viewing project information
• Viewing your sign-in history

Limited Functionality

• Toolbox Talk attendance (stores locally, syncs later)
• Document viewing (only previously downloaded docs)
• Photo attachments (stored locally, uploaded when online)

Requires Connection

• Initial login
• Downloading new project data
• Viewing real-time analytics
• Receiving push notifications
• Uploading large files

Sync Queue

When offline, all your actions are queued:

• Actions are saved to local storage
• Each action is timestamped
• A sync indicator shows queued items count
• When connected, items sync in chronological order
• You receive confirmation after successful sync

Viewing Sync Status

• Green dot — Connected and synced
• Yellow dot — Connected, sync in progress
• Red dot — Offline, items queued
• Number badge — Count of queued items

Data Freshness

The app shows when data was last synced:

• "Updated just now" — Synced within last minute
• "Updated 5 minutes ago" — Recent sync
• "Last synced 2 hours ago" — May be stale
• "Offline — using cached data" — No recent sync

Storage Management

Offline data uses device storage:

• Typical usage: 50-100MB
• Photos can increase this significantly
• Clear cache in app settings if needed
• Critical data is never auto-deleted

Conflict Resolution

If the same record is modified both offline and by another user:

• The system detects the conflict during sync
• Both versions are preserved
• You're prompted to choose which to keep
• In most cases, the server version takes precedence
• Your offline version is saved as a draft
