Safety checks (pre-task assessments) ensure workers evaluate hazards before starting work each day or before specific tasks.

What Are Safety Checks?

Pre-start safety checks are brief assessments that:

• Identify hazards for the day's work
• Verify PPE is appropriate and in good condition
• Confirm workers understand the task plan
• Document that safety was considered before work began

Using Templates

Verdan provides built-in templates for common checks:

Daily Pre-Start

• Weather conditions assessment
• PPE inspection
• Equipment check
• Hazard identification
• Emergency procedure review

Task-Specific

• Working at heights checklist
• Hot work preparation
• Excavation pre-start
• Crane lift plan review
• Concrete pour readiness

Equipment Inspections

• Scaffold inspection
• Ladder inspection
• Power tool check
• Vehicle pre-start
• Harness inspection

Creating Custom Templates

• Go to Templates > Safety Checks
• Click Create Template
• Add check items with types:

- Yes/No questions

- Multi-choice options

- Text input fields

- Photo requirements

- Signature fields

• Set passing criteria
• Assign to projects

Completing a Check

On Mobile

• Open the app and tap Safety Check
• Select the applicable template
• Work through each item
• Take required photos
• Sign off and submit

On Web

• Go to Safety > Checks
• Click New Check
• Complete the form
• Submit

Compliance Tracking

The dashboard shows:

• Completion rate by crew
• Overdue checks
• Common fail items
• Trends over time

Superintendents receive alerts for:

• Checks not completed by start time
• Failed items requiring attention
• Repeated failures on specific items
